Projects

It all happens while the house is dark.

A show is one night. The year before it is studies, scans, calibration, programming and rehearsal in an empty room. We are in that year, at whichever point you need us: live video for the stage, monumental projection mapping, interactive installation.

Design and engineering

What gets decided in the first weeks decides the rest. This is the cheapest moment to find out that a projector cannot reach, and the most expensive one to skip.

  • Projection Study

Projector positions and lens types, coverage, brightness and the pixel density that follows from them.

  • Calibration Study

Which calibration method suits the project, and the markers and cameras it needs, including where they go.

  • Tracking Study

Camera type, position and lens, and how optical markers get into props and costumes to track inside a defined volume.

On this one

The projection study, before anything was hung.

Projector cones and a point cloud of the castle facade, resolved on a model while the site was still a parade ground. What the study promised is the frame on the right.

03

Production

The core of it, and the reason we do this work. Geometry becomes a model, the model becomes a surface, and the surface finally holds an image.

3D acquisition

  • Scanning

Physical volume scanned to acquire the geometry: the step that decides whether everything after it lands.

  • UV Mapping

The texture space that lets a model be a projection surface.

    Modeling

Preproduction

  • Previsualization

The whole show simulated (projection, sets, lighting) as a video file or in a headset.

Installation

  • System Integration

Support to the integrator, so the equipment runs the way it was specified.

  • Other services

Factory Acceptance Testing · Site Acceptance Testing

Show programming

  • Automated Back-Up

Failsafe programming, so a malfunction does not become a dark stage.

  • External System Integration

Wired into automation, lighting and whatever else the other departments are running.

Operation and hand-over

  • Operation

Running a show is a job in itself. Our technicians can do it, or back up your own team.

  • Hand-over Training

On-site training for your team, so the show leaves with them and not with us.

On this one

Measuring a castle with light, then telling each projector what it owns.

Every projector assigned its patch, the overlap resolved, the result checked against the point cloud. Nobody in the stands ever sees the left frame, and it is the only reason the right one holds.

When the product does not go far enough

Some projects need something that is not in the product line yet. Rather than talk you out of it, we build it, and it usually ends up in the next version for everyone.

  • Initial analysis
  • Proof of concept
  • Research & development
  • Prototyping
  • Final testing

Five steps, always in that order. The last one runs in our lab, at your facility or on site, with you in the room.

04

After opening night

A permanent installation runs for years. Support is not an afterthought to that, it is most of it.

  • System Upgrade Integration

Support to the integrators during upgrade operations.

  • Remote Access Support

Our team reaching your servers from the lab.

  • Remote Electronic Support

A support infrastructure built up over years: a ticket, or a chat with the person who knows.

On this one

Two operators, one show, one of them not in the room.

The same project open on two machines at once, which is how a note from the floor gets answered while somebody else keeps programming.

Learning

So it leaves with you

A project we still have to fly to is a project we did not finish. Training is how the show becomes yours.

  • On-Site Training

Our team on your site, on your system, on your show.

Five fields

The same method, at five very different scales.

  • Permanent installations

    Running for years, maintained remotely.
  • Stadium

Screens no codec has touched, and one chance.
  • Touring

The same show, re-calibrated in a new room every week.
  • Theatre

Tracking, automation, and a stage that moves.
  • Architectural

A facade nobody built to be a screen.

Talk to us early

The first conversation is the one that changes the outcome. It is also free.

Why early

Every study on this page is cheaper than the problem it finds. A projection study costs days; a projector that cannot reach costs a truss, a re-hang and a week of the schedule.
